Cufflinks FAQs

Can I wear cufflinks with any shirt?

To use cufflinks a shirt must have a buttonhole on both sides. The two main types of cuffs which are fastened with cufflinks are single cuffs and double (or French) cuffs (where the cuff is folded back over itself).

The standard cuff with buttons is called a barrel or button cuff.

Can I use cufflinks with my existing Button cuff shirts?

Shirts with cuffs that can be either buttoned or fastened with cufflinks – known as convertible cuffs – are becoming increasingly popular. Convertible cuffs have two buttonholes and buttons. A good tailor or seamstress can alter existing shirts to make convertible cuffs.
